I love being a Mommy! I have 5 kids and they each have such a fun personality that adds excitement to our family! They each have their strengths and weaknesses as we all do and it is hard to see them struggle. Two of my children have special needs. Allison is my oldest at age 12 and has been diagnosed with Autism. She is a sweetheart and can memorize songs like crazy! Then my 6 year old, Ryan, has cerebral palsy and has a stomach tube. It is a struggle to get him to eat. If I push him hard enough he will eat around 100 calories a day without gagging! This is a huge improvement for him!
My other children have learned so much from our experiences with Allison and Ryan. Adam is 11 and helps me with the other kids when he isn't busy reading, playing with friends, or playing with legos. He as well as my next son, Nathan, who is 8 and was baptized last Saturday (yeah!) have a gift of being sensitive to those with special needs. All of my children adore our youngest child, Katie, who is 19 months old. She loves all of her older siblings and when Allison is having a hard day, she will even try to give her hugs or snuggle up to her on the couch.
I love my husband, Jon, and my family and I'm excited to write some things about my special needs kiddos on this blog!
